What This Indicator Measures

Daily CIF Northwest Europe assessment of 1.0% sulphur fuel oil cargoes in USD/mt.

Fuel Oil 1.0%: A physical price for residual fuel oil with a maximum 1.0% sulphur content, a low-sulphur straight-run grade traded in Europe.

Specification · stated by the source for this series

  • Maximum 1.0% sulphur, from the series name.
  • 1.0% sulphur maximum by mass; other properties follow the source assessment.

Basis: CIF NWE

  • CIF (cost, insurance and freight): the price includes ocean freight and insurance to the named destination area; the difference to an FOB value therefore contains freight and insurance, not a trading margin.
  • Northwest Europe (NWE) covers the Channel and North Sea coast from Le Havre to Hamburg; cargo values here are seagoing parcels, not barges.

Unit: USD/mt

  • USD/bbl values (Singapore, Arab Gulf, Fujairah) and USD/mt values (Europe, Japan naphtha) cannot be compared without a product-specific density conversion; the site does not convert them.
  • Published assessments are a low–high range with a midpoint; charts and monthly statistics use the midpoint only.

What This CIF NWE Price Represents

This page tracks the daily fuel oil 1.0% on a CIF NWE basis, quoted in USD/mt. Figures are CommodityScope Indicators synthesized from loaded market editions. They are not a live quote and not a republication of a price-reporting agency table.

How to use this series

  • Follow low-sulphur residual values relative to 3.5% fuel oil in the same basis.

What it is not suitable for

  • Marine 0.5% compliant fuel pricing.

Compare With

Each comparison states why the series are related and whether the latest values can be subtracted directly (same unit, currency and assessment date). Where they cannot, the values are shown side by side without a difference.
