What This Indicator Measures

Daily FOB West Africa jet fuel cargo assessment in USD/mt.

Jet Fuel / Kerosene: A physical price for aviation turbine fuel (jet kerosene). Series differ by loading or delivery area, delivery term and parcel type; each is a separate market.

What the source does not state for this series

  • The source table names this series as “Jet Fuel” and does not print a fuller specification; none is assumed here.
  • The loaded history for this series is short (it starts later than the other West African series).

Specification · product family only

  • Jet A-1 is defined by DEF STAN 91-091 / ASTM D1655 (freezing point maximum −47 °C among other limits); the exact grade assessed by each source is not reproduced here.

Basis: FOB West Africa

  • FOB (free on board): the price covers the product loaded on the vessel at the named origin; sea freight and insurance to the destination are excluded, so FOB values from different loading areas are not delivered-cost equivalents.
  • Lomé (Togo) hosts an offshore ship-to-ship transfer zone in the Gulf of Guinea used to redistribute imported products along the West African coast.

Unit: USD/mt

  • USD/bbl values (Singapore, Arab Gulf, Fujairah) and USD/mt values (Europe, Japan naphtha) cannot be compared without a product-specific density conversion; the site does not convert them.
  • Published assessments are a low–high range with a midpoint; charts and monthly statistics use the midpoint only.

Computed Summary

Statements below are calculated by CommodityScope from the loaded history only. Each one names its period and method; none explains why a value moved.

  1. The latest assessment of $1440.25/mt on 4 Sep 2026 is down $35.25 (-2.4%) from the previous daily assessment (3 Sep 2026).

Method: Computed by CommodityScope as the difference between the two most recent loaded daily observations (1 calendar day apart).

  2. It is 9.4% above the August 2026 average of $1316.17/mt, the most recent completed month with 19 daily observations.

Method: Arithmetic mean of the published daily midpoints in August 2026. Partial months are excluded from this comparison.

  3. Over the loaded history (3 Aug 2026 – 4 Sep 2026), the highest assessment was $1491.25/mt on 2 Sep 2026 and the lowest was $1201.25/mt on 4 Aug 2026.

Method: Minimum and maximum of the published midpoint over the loaded history (3 Aug 2026 – 4 Sep 2026, 23 observations). This is not an all-time record.

What This FOB West Africa Price Represents

This page tracks the daily jet fuel on a FOB West Africa basis, quoted in USD/mt. Figures are CommodityScope Indicators synthesized from loaded market editions. They are not a live quote and not a republication of a price-reporting agency table.

How to use this series

  • Track aviation fuel pricing by region; compare with 10 ppm gasoil in the same basis for the jet–diesel differential.

What it is not suitable for

  • Into-plane airport prices, which include throughput and handling fees.

Compare With

Each comparison states why the series are related and whether the latest values can be subtracted directly (same unit, currency and assessment date). Where they cannot, the values are shown side by side without a difference.

Same jet fuel in the same region on STS Lomé instead of FOB West Africa terms; the gap contains freight/insurance or barge-vs-cargo logistics, not quality.
  • Different delivery terms (FOB vs STS); the gap includes freight, insurance or handling and is not a trading margin.
