What This Indicator Measures

Weekly FOB Black Sea assessment of bulk ammonium nitrate in USD/mt.

Ammonium Nitrate / CAN 27: A physical price for ammonium nitrate (bulk export grades) or calcium ammonium nitrate CAN 27 (27% N, an inland European grade). Bulk AN and CAN are different products.

What the source does not state for this series

  • The nitrogen content of the assessed grade is not printed in the loaded row.

Specification · stated by the source for this series

  • Bulk AN, from the series basis.
  • CAN 27 contains 27% nitrogen by mass.
  • Bulk AN export grades typically carry about 34% N; the exact grade assessed follows the source.

Basis: FOB Black Sea bulk

  • FOB (free on board): the price covers the product loaded on the vessel at the named origin; sea freight and insurance to the destination are excluded, so FOB values from different loading areas are not delivered-cost equivalents.
  • The Black Sea basis covers loadings from Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian and Bulgarian ports; origin is stated separately where it matters for the price.

Unit: USD/mt

  • Most series are USD per metric tonne of product, not per tonne of nitrogen. NOLA barge series are USD per short ton (907.18 kg); Rouen and German inland series are EUR/mt.
  • FOB origin and CFR destination values differ by freight and insurance and are not interchangeable.

What This FOB Black Sea bulk Price Represents

This page tracks the weekly ammonium nitrate on a FOB Black Sea bulk basis, quoted in USD/mt. Figures are CommodityScope Indicators synthesized from loaded market editions. They are not a live quote and not a republication of a price-reporting agency table.

How to use this series

  • Follow nitrate values for European top-dressing demand; compare per unit N with urea and UAN.

What it is not suitable for

  • Comparing an EUR/mt inland CAN value with a USD/mt FOB bulk AN value directly.

Compare With

Each comparison states why the series are related and whether the latest values can be subtracted directly (same unit, currency and assessment date). Where they cannot, the values are shown side by side without a difference.
