What This Indicator Measures
Daily FOB Northwest Europe assessment of 10 ppm sulphur ULSD cargoes in USD/mt.
Gasoil 10ppm / ULSD / Diesel 10ppm: A physical price for middle-distillate fuel with a maximum sulphur content of 10 mg/kg (10 ppm), the grade used for road diesel in the EU and many other markets. Each series refers to one loading or delivery area, one delivery term and one parcel type (cargo or barge); these define separate markets and are kept on separate pages.
Specification · stated by the source for this series
- Maximum 10 ppm sulphur, from the series name.
- 10 ppm is the maximum sulphur content by mass; it is the road-diesel limit set by the EU Fuel Quality Directive.
- “ULSD”, “Diesel 10ppm” and “Gasoil 10ppm” in this catalogue all refer to 10 mg/kg sulphur product; other properties (cold-flow, density, cetane) follow the source’s assessment specification, which is not reproduced here.
Basis: FOB NWE
- FOB (free on board): the price covers the product loaded on the vessel at the named origin; sea freight and insurance to the destination are excluded, so FOB values from different loading areas are not delivered-cost equivalents.
- Northwest Europe (NWE) covers the Channel and North Sea coast from Le Havre to Hamburg; cargo values here are seagoing parcels, not barges.
Unit: USD/mt
- USD/bbl values (Singapore, Arab Gulf, Fujairah) and USD/mt values (Europe, Japan naphtha) cannot be compared without a product-specific density conversion; the site does not convert them.
- Published assessments are a low–high range with a midpoint; charts and monthly statistics use the midpoint only.

What This FOB NWE Price Represents
This page tracks the daily ulsd 10 ppm on a FOB NWE basis, quoted in USD/mt. Figures are CommodityScope Indicators synthesized from loaded market editions. They are not a live quote and not a republication of a price-reporting agency table.
How to use this series
- Track the level and direction of one market over time using the chart, monthly averages and the recent-assessment table.
- Compare markets only after checking unit (bbl vs mt), delivery term (FOB vs CIF) and parcel type (cargo vs barge).
What it is not suitable for
- Retail pump prices: these are wholesale cargo/barge values before taxes, distribution and margins.
- Arbitrage calculations between basins: the FOB/CIF gap includes freight and insurance.
- Intraday trading: values are end-of-day assessments from loaded editions.
Compare With
Each comparison states why the series are related and whether the latest values can be subtracted directly (same unit, currency and assessment date). Where they cannot, the values are shown side by side without a difference.
