What This Indicator Measures

Daily FOB Fujairah marine fuel 0.5% assessment in USD per metric tonne, identified by source code AMFFA00 in the Asia-Pacific and Arab Gulf report.

Marine Fuel 0.5% (VLSFO): A physical price for very-low-sulphur fuel oil with a maximum 0.50% sulphur content, the global-compliant marine fuel under IMO MARPOL Annex VI since 1 January 2020. Series are quoted FOB cargo or barge at the named hub, not as delivered bunker stems.

What the source does not state for this series

  • The displayed row does not specify a complete fuel-quality certificate, viscosity or a named vessel delivery.

Specification · stated by the source for this series

  • Marine fuel with a 0.5% sulphur label, as printed in the source row.
  • 0.50% sulphur maximum by mass (IMO 2020 global cap).
  • Grade is a residual marine fuel within ISO 8217; viscosity and other limits follow the source assessment.

Basis: FOB Fujairah

  • FOB Fujairah cargo assessment. This is distinct from a delivered-to-vessel bunker quote and from the MOPFUJ strip shown alongside it.
  • FOB (free on board): the price covers the product loaded on the vessel at the named origin; sea freight and insurance to the destination are excluded, so FOB values from different loading areas are not delivered-cost equivalents.
  • Fujairah is a UAE port on the Gulf of Oman, outside the Strait of Hormuz, with large commercial storage and a bunkering anchorage.

Unit: USD/mt

  • USD/bbl values (Singapore, Arab Gulf, Fujairah) and USD/mt values (Europe, Japan naphtha) cannot be compared without a product-specific density conversion; the site does not convert them.
  • Published assessments are a low–high range with a midpoint; charts and monthly statistics use the midpoint only.

What This FOB Fujairah Price Represents

This page tracks the daily 0.5% VLSFO on a FOB Fujairah basis, quoted in USD/mt. This is an FOB cargo assessment, not a delivered bunker stem price. Figures are CommodityScope Indicators synthesized from loaded market editions. They are not a live quote and not a republication of a price-reporting agency table.

How to use this series

  • Follow compliant bunker fuel values at the main hubs; compare with HSFO 3.5% in the same hub to read the scrubber economics spread (Hi-5).

What it is not suitable for

  • Delivered bunker stem prices, which include barging and margins.
  • ECA-compliant 0.10% fuel pricing (that is marine gasoil).

Compare With

Each comparison states why the series are related and whether the latest values can be subtracted directly (same unit, currency and assessment date). Where they cannot, the values are shown side by side without a difference.
